Cocktail Inspiration The Spanish Dancer

Made with FAME & MISFORTUNE RYE FINISHED IN CREAM SHERRY CASKS

Known throughout Europe as “The Spanish Dancer”, this Fame & Misfortune cocktail features a Bergamot Tea syrup to pay tribute to the importance of tea throughout Europe in the 1800s. Combined with a citrus liqueur and bright acidity, a whiskey sour great for anytime of the year.

Ingredients

  • 1 1⁄2 ounces Fame & Misfortune Cream Sherry Rye
  • 1⁄2 ounce Cointreau
  • 3⁄4 ounce Lemon Juice
  • 1⁄2 ounce Bergamot Tea syrup*
  • ‎ ‎
  • *Bergamot Syrup ‎
  • 225 grams demerara sugar
  • 225 grams hot water
  • 20 grams Bergamot tea
  • 15 grams orange peel

Garnish

  • Cherry
  • Mint

Method

Bergamot Syrup

Put water over high heat and bring to a boil. When boiling add in Bergamot tea, orange peels, and demerara sugar and stir until the sugar is full dissolved. Remove from heat and let steep for 15 minutes. Strain the mixture through fine mesh, and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month.

The Spanish Dancer Cocktail

Combine the ingredients in a shaker, add ice and shake hard for 10 seconds until thoroughly chilled and properly diluted. Strain into a coupe glass, express an orange over the top and garnish.
